Linda Ingham – ASH (leaf, fragmented, April – May 2020)
Watercolour, gouache, silverpoint and conte

In a socially distanced manner, we may now GATHER!  Studio Eleven is excited to re-open and present this exhibition, which concerns an artist’s engagement with landscape and place.

Linda Ingham has a practice that is based on personal engagement with nature and place.  Increasingly involved with botany and folk-histories of plants observed on location where she walks, or on her allotments, pieces are often created using gathered plants.   The gathered bounty is developed into art that traces the physical and historical meanings repackaged or archived within the layers of collage or paint.

Ingham’s new art for GATHER has been created through interacting with coastal locations on the south bank of the Humber Estuary, in particular the Far Ings National Nature Reserve at Barton on Humber, and the RSPB reserve at Blacktoft Sands.   This is an Arts Council England funded project.

Linda Ingham lives and works from her studio in coastal Lincolnshire and at The Ropewalk in Barton upon Humber, exhibiting nationally and internationally, achieving her MA in Fine Art from Lincoln University School of Art, Architecture and Design in 2007. Her work is in collections nationally and internationally including the East Contemporary Artists collections at UCS, Swindon Art Gallery & Museum, Rugby Museum & Art Gallery, and University of Arizona Museum of Art, USA, Madison Museum and Gallery, Ohio; Komechak Museum, Chicago USA, Jiangsu Arts and Craft Museum, China.
