Summer Exhibition

Kate Jordan

Based in Yorkshire Kate studied fashion/ textiles and then Fine Art at Hull University’s Scarborough Campus. Here she specialised in painting and fused her love of expressionism, pattern and colour into her distinct figurative style.

Kate works primarily in oils and uses fragments of rose and gold leaf within her work to create different texture and dimensions of light and shade.

Her paintings convey a whimsical and dreamlike quality. She sees her work as figurative expressionism which explores the nature between form and abstraction. Kate loves to depict the everyday as well as her icons, folklore and creatures from her imagination.

Her paintings involve an organic process of charcoal drawing, hectic mark making , dripping and exploring the surface area with texture and colour.

As an artist Kate loves to swing between painting and illustration. Her illustrations are created in watercolours and inks and are inspired by her love of fashion people and places, as well as the rugged Yorkshire landscape and the coast.
