Gillian Dyson
Coming Home
As part of the Hull Time Based Arts weekend at the Humber Street Gallery, Gillian Dyson will perform at Studio Eleven Gallery using clay.
Dyson will present a new performance work for Re-ROOTed that uses the context of a ‘home city’ to explore the memory of objects. The work Coming Home will make use of a table, crockery and found materials from the Humber Street vicinity.
Gillian is a Hull artist, now living in Leeds. Her work examines ideas of place and identity and is often commissioned for specific sites or socially engaged contexts. Her live and exhibition work have been shown internationally over some twenty-five years, including by Asiatopia Festival Bangkok, Konsthall Gothenburg, and Tetley Leeds. Gillian is a Senior Lecturer in Performance at Leeds Beckett University. She is undertaking PhD research with University of Glasgow and is currently investigating the use of body and object in performance as an exploration of how the feminine can disrupt the homely.
